How to switch to grain-free food without an upset stomach
An abrupt change of food is the most common cause of a loose stomach when switching food. The digestion needs time to get used to the new ingredients, and it does this best gradually.
A rule of thumb is to spend about a week on the transition. Mix a little of the new food into the old for the first few days, and increase the proportion of new food a little each day until you are fully over. If your dog has a particularly sensitive stomach, you can extend the period to ten days or more.
Keep an eye on stools, appetite and energy along the way. If the stools become loose, you can stay on the current mix for a couple of extra days before increasing again. How to find the right amount per day
